Stace
England is an American singer-songwriter from
Illinois who on the Internet somewhere is
defined as "Sufjan Stevens with balls." He's a
musician who has a number of records to his
name, but released so gradually he's not blessed
with quite as well known balls as his colleague. On Salt Sex Slaves Stace England and his band
The Salt Kings tell wonderful stories about
slices of American history. The songs are
packaged in a tasty raw sound that is closer to
rock 'n roll than country, the style that Stace
England so far mainly gets labeled with. The
music recalls the Stones in their best years,
but in a slightly Americana vein. At first
listen the CD is remarkable as a whole but then
it even grows further on you. Stace England has
already been embraced by a small circle but with
Salt Sex Slaves he's ready for a much bigger
audience.
